Washington County Habitat for Humanity (WCHH) is a
Texas non-profit (501(c)3) corporation with an ecumenical Christian
mission to provide affordable housing to persons and families in
Brenham, Burton and all of Washington County, Texas. WCHH is an
affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.
WCHH is a volunteer based organization that works in
conjunction with people and businesses throughout all walks of life
to improve the quality of life for citizens of Washington County.
Our objective is to build
modest but adequate
housing for families in need due to current living conditions.
WCHH builds houses with
volunteer community labor, sweat-equity from the homebuyer and
donated goods and services and sells them at no profit and with no
interest to our partner family.
Selected partners are financially self-supporting,
but cannot meet conventional loan requirements
and qualify on the basis of need, willingness to partner with WCHH
and the ability to pay for the house.

Financial and building material contributions, and volunteer
workers allow us to help a deserving family build an affordable
and well built home.
In the
first six years since inception, Washington County Habitat for
Humanity has completed five homes Groundwork and family selection
has been completed for a sixth and seventh homes.
The single largest and most valuable asset is the
volunteer base from which WCHH draws on a daily basis for
administrative assistance, home design, construction supervision and
fund raising. Volunteers donate approximately 50 hours a week which
swells to over 165 hours per week during actual home building.
Valued at minimum wage of $5.35 per hour volunteer hours donate
upwards of $800 per week in skilled labor to WCHH.
