Washington County Habitat for Humanity (WCHH) is a Texas non-profit (501(c)3) corporation with an ecumenical Christian mission to provide affordable housing to persons and families in Brenham, Burton and all of Washington County, Texas. WCHH is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.

WCHH is a volunteer based organization that works in conjunction with people and businesses throughout all walks of life to improve the quality of life for citizens of Washington County.

Our objective is to build modest but adequate housing for families in need due to current living conditions.

WCHH builds houses with volunteer community labor, sweat-equity from the homebuyer and donated goods and services and sells them at no profit and with no interest to our partner family. Selected partners are financially self-supporting, but cannot meet conventional loan requirements and qualify on the basis of need, willingness to partner with WCHH and the ability to pay for the house.

Financial and building material contributions, and volunteer workers allow us to help a deserving family build an affordable and well built home.

In the first six years since inception, Washington County Habitat for Humanity has completed five homes Groundwork and family selection has been completed for a sixth and seventh homes.

The single largest and most valuable asset is the volunteer base from which WCHH draws on a daily basis for administrative assistance, home design, construction supervision and fund raising. Volunteers donate approximately 50 hours a week which swells to over 165 hours per week during actual home building. Valued at minimum wage of $5.35 per hour volunteer hours donate upwards of $800 per week in skilled labor to WCHH.
