Tithing

Malachi, Chapter 3: Verse 10:
Bring the whole tithe into the store house, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the LORD Almighty, and see if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

The need for decent & affordable shelter is a worldwide challenge, and Habitat for Humanity is a global partnership response; each U.S affiliated organization commits to providing significant financial support of house-building efforts in other countries through participating in the tithe program. Acknowledging God’s abundant provision, Habitat affiliated organizations share their first-fruits through the practice of tithing 10% of undesignated cash revenues toward international house-building efforts.

Currently Habitat for Humanity Washington County is tithing an amount of $4,500 per year, which equates to more than one house Internationally.
Thanks to donations from churches, companies, organisations and individuals, a total of 8 international partner families have thusfar been served by Washington County Habitat for Humanity for a total of $34,162 since 2003.
Hence, we are pretty much on a schedule of one Habitat house in Washington County providing for an extra house internationally.

Up to 2010 WCHH has been tithing to a general Habitat International fund. Since Habitat International allows for selection of specific countries, the board has selected (from 2011 onwards) two countries, Kyrgyzstan and Banglesh where these monies will be used for Habitat for Humanity house construction projects.
