May Warren is a reporter on the Star’s housing team.
A graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s Master of Journalism program, she first joined the Star as a summer intern in 2014. She then worked at the Guelph Mercury and Metro Toronto, before returning in 2018 as a breaking news reporter, covering stories including the Danforth shooting and the St. Michael's College School sexual assault investigation.
Before joining the housing team, she spent two and a half years covering the pandemic, from the first days of the new virus in the city to the vaccine rollout.
May is the winner of three Ontario Newspaper Awards, including general news feature for a story about a Guelph woman’s medically assisted death before that became legal.
She was nominated as part of the Toronto Star team for a National Newspaper Award for coverage of the crash of Flight 752 in early 2020, and as part of the team for project of the year for a 2019 series on OHIP billing.
