Corrections

Mistakes will happen. When they do, we correct our errors as promptly as possible on the platforms where the errors occurred. Corrections serve the reader and they serve the public record. If you see a possible error, please contact the public editor’s office, telephone 416-869-4949. As well, you can easily report possible errors using the Star’s Report an Error link found at the bottom of all articles.

Public Editor

The Public Editor’s office responds to readers’ queries about accuracy and Torstar’s journalistic standards. The public editor acts as an intermediary between the Star and its audiences on all platforms, explaining journalism to readers and the concerns of readers to the newsroom.

Journalistic Standards

Ethical journalism is the foundation of the Star’s integrity and is essential to its  credibility with its audiences. The Torstar Journalistic Standards Guide provides a comprehensive code of journalistic principles and conduct to guide Toronto Star journalists in their mission to responsibility inform, engage and connect its readers on all platforms with trusted news, information and content.

Glossary

Drawing a clear line between news and opinion – and between news and advertising content – has long a core value of the Toronto Star. The glossary contains definitions for the Star’s various types of news, opinion  and paid content labels applied to content across all platforms to help you more easily distinguish whether you are viewing news, opinion or advertising content.
